Afternoon All
Monday 30 Novemeber 2015 - HMRC PAYE website not working pretty much all day on the pay day for most employees - USELESS!
It was bound to happen at some point as whenever the Government embark on IT projects they always, always mess up somewhere down the line.
Frankly the Government is relying (and forcing the rest of us to rely!) on 100% up time for websites and online filings.
Anyone else cannot file RTI FPS submission today?
Think from talking to a number of accountants today this is a national problem and HMRC's PAYE / RTI website is down and not accepting TRI / FPS or EPS submissions.
Total nighmare on the last day of the month and no dount many many people will be wondering how on earth they are going to catrch up with everything they already have to cope with on tight deadlines tomorrow.
HMRC and the Gov IT departments are frankly ill prepared for these types of problems and the knock on effect it has on other users and are also TOTALLY useless at letting everyone know there is a problem in the first place.
HMRC is not fit for purpose frankly and it is about time the department is scrapped and replaced with a tax collection and admin department that actually works!!!
Grrrrrrrr

... and here is what is totally crazy... If you have tried calling the online services help desk to see if there is an availability of service issue you listen to about two mins of useless recorded messages then get told HMRC are busy and cannto take your call and they cut you off.. If that is not annoying and useless enough (all day today!)... If you check the PAYE " HMRC online available service issues website that does not say there is a problem either. There must be a lot of very confused, worried and stressed Payroll admins out there today on Payday!!! HMREC are totally useless and administering anything and especially PAYE issues. HMRC are officially USELESS! What a waste of time today it is going to be a long evening trying to catch up if it starts working at all that is! A very frustrated and angry... Sally!

.... 19:09 pm and still can't get through to the online services helpdesk PAYE section just says all agents are busy and then cuts you off..
Been trying all day and no doubt they will close at 8pm with no chance to get through today at all.
What the hell is going on HMRC...
Can't even find anything on Twitter, BBC website, HMRC or .Gov websites...
No official news what a totally useless situation.
Doubt HMRC will compensate agents and employers for all the extra costs that will no be incurred administering PAYE this month....
Will MPs do anything about this mess?
They are as useless and HMRC frankly.
If you have ever tried reporting problems with HMRC to your MP mine (John Redwood) just emails back and says HMRC is nothing to do with him basically.
In my case it is a good job John Redwood is not responsible for much really as he totally sucks at being a local MP helping local businesses (and this is not a party political post in the slightest just a note that MPs generally try and avoid anything HMRC related or dealing with a queries that might actually involve and useful work or knowledge!)

AND FINALLY... a bit of RTI filing success
After trying all day at 19:23pm I got my first RTI / FPS submission to go from a clients QuickBooks Online account!
What a nightmare of a day.
Now to try filing an desktop version FPS submission again that has not worked all day either but I don't think this is down to QB just down to HMRC IT online issues.
Will put a forum post on if the desktop RTI submissions start going though now as well...

OH PHEW further update at 19:20 pm ... Nil EPS finally submits after countless failed attempts today.
Managed to file a Nil EPS for a client too now that has not worked all day tryingt regularly during the day.
My guess is that a lot of businesses have now gone home now and that has reduced the pressure on HMRC's servers.
CLEARLY the Government and HMRC are not geared up for the demand despite forcing RTI on everyone saying it would make things easier. Yeah right...
I bet the full FPS submissions start going though now too, we will see!

Monday 30 November 2015 at 20:15pm all RTI payroll FPS submissions are now going through to HMRC.
It is going to be a long late evening catching up now today after HMRC website failures today. Need to get clear as have VAT to finish tomorrow.
It is a shame HMRC staff are not made to stay late when they mess up, they get off very lightly for the mess ups at HMRC (at everyone elses expense).
Shame it took HMRC so long today to fix the errors on such a key payroll day in the month.
And where are the apologies and admittances from HMRC they have caused everyone so much hassle, time and cost today!
Grrr

HOWEVER....
No RTI submission confirmations are arriving from HMRC by email which is one easy way to check the RTI filing with HMRC was successful.
So HMRC still clearly not fixed all the errors...
What a farse...

Finally finished catching up from todays saga with the HMRC RTI website.
All FPS reports filed with HMRC however not a single email confirmation from HMRC.
The submissions are confirmed within the software under the filing confirmations but not a single email from HMRC.
Sadly I very much doubt this will be the last crash of HMRC's RTI website for RTI filings.
I fact very worryingly I have no doubt at all that there will at some point(s) be major major disruption to the RTI service and it is conceivable that RTI could get scrapped it there are a number of serious failing of online availability like todays.
After all RTI has proved that even when HMRC all the extra data every month they still can't get much right.
Perhaps too much data to cope with I suspect but until RTI is sorted out of scrapped we the general public and their advisers will be the ones paying the admin/cost price!
RTI is yet another Government failed or failing IT project!!!
