One of the things I like about participating in this tax forum is that I can search for all my posts which makes recording my CPD time and activities easy.

There are very few good tax forums for UK tax professionals and accountants so this is a great new online resource.

Here is the CIOT CPD requirements guideance for anyone looking for it.

90 hours per annum of which at least 20 hours should be non reading.

Non reading examples given by CIOT include:

  • Attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops, discussions at committee meeting and similar
events organised by CIOT or ATT and its branches and similar training organised by other professional bodies, professional firms and companies.

  • Learning media including podcasts and computer based training packages.

  • Learning at work, such as firms’ training meetings, coaching and mentoring.

  • Studying for a relevant further qualification.

  • Developing and presenting tax relevant training material (as a broad indication up to 4 hours preparation time for every hour of the final presentation would be regarded as a reasonable amount of time in this context, although individual circumstances may differ.

  • Writing books, articles and reviews.

So discussions can count towards non reading CPD requirements.

As participating in online tax forums helps me and other and it is FREE it seems to me a no brainer to get involved.
